Take Care

It’s Friday night…I’m sitting in my room, on my bed with my pineapple and mango candle lit, listening to Drake’s Nothing Was The Same album, and all I really want to do is stay here and rest. I’m not going to lie, my energy has been feeling a little off and pretty low these last couple of days. I felt mentally and emotionally drained with no energy or desire to do anything. I can’t tell you that there’s been anything specific in my life that has triggered this feeling, but I guess it’s normal; we are human, and it’s impossible to think that we are not ever going to have moments where we feel this way.

I started to analyze what could’ve lead me to feel like this, and what I could do to change it. I realized I just needed some time for myself, nothing crazy, but just disconnecting. I decided to take a break from social media and just give myself the space to get my energy back. Don’t get me wrong, I love social media, but it’s a double edge sword, and it’s easy to get caught up in it. I found myself with a need/desire to keep up with people’s lives, and for them to keep up with mine. It started to feel toxic and no longer like a positive place. It’s been a week now since I’ve been off social media, and wow it feels good. I know it may not seem like a whole lot, but it’s been more than enough time to get myself right again.

I found that I have so much more time in my hands and I’ve been using it to pray, read the Bible and self-help books. I also started meditating(shout out to Jess and Jaxx for the tip) and just resting, making sure I get 8 hours of sleep. They’re little things that really go a long way, and I feel so much better now.   I’m sure there are many other ways for us to recharge, but I am sharing with you what worked for me. This week allowed me to refocus,  and take care of myself.

I truly feel it’s so important take care of ourselves, protect our energy, and make sure our minds are right. It’s ok to give ourselves time to just disconnect; it felt so healthy for me. Always remember that we cannot give people our best, if we ourselves are not ok.

Es viernes por la noche…estoy sentada en mi habitación con una vela con aroma a piña y mango, escuchando el álbum de Drake Nothing Was The Same y de lo único que tengo ganas es de quedarme aquí a descansar. Estos últimos días mi energía ha estado baja y en verdad no me siento del todo bien. Me he sentido agotada mental y emocionalmente sin energía ni ganas de hacer absolutamente nada. No les puedo decir que hay algo en específico que cause que me sienta de esta manera, pero supongo que es normal; somos seres humanos, y es imposible pensar que jamás tendremos momentos en los cuales nos sintamos de esta manera.

Comencé a analizar que me pudo haber llevado hasta este punto, y quería ver que podía hacer para cambiarlo. Me di cuenta que solo ocupaba tiempo para mí misma, nada fuera do lo común, sino solo desconectarme. Decide darme un tiempo sin mis redes sociales, y darme espacio para recuperar mi energía. No me lo tomen a mal, yo amo las redes sociales, pero es un arma de doble filo, y es tan fácil dejar que nos consuma. De cierta manera me vi con la necesidad de estar al tanto de la vida de los demás y que también estén pendientes de la mía. Se comenzó a sentir tóxico y como que dejaba de ser un lugar de positivismo. Ya oficialmente es una semana que estoy fuera de las redes sociales, y wow que bien se siente. Sé que quizá una semana no parezca ser mucho tiempo, pero para mí fue más que suficiente para sentirme bien de nuevo.

El mantenerme fuera de las redes me dejo con muchísimo más tiempo para orar, y leer la Biblia y libros de motivación. También comencé a meditar (gracias a Jessica y Jaxx por el tip) a descansar, y dormir 8 horas. Son cosas pequeñas que realmente hacen una gran diferencia, y ahora me siento mucho mejor. Estoy segura que hay muchas otras maneras de recargar nuestra energía, pero yo les estoy compartiendo lo que funcionó para mí. Esta semana me permitió reenfocarme y cuidarme a mí misma.

De verdad siento que es tan importante cuidarnos a nosotros mismos, proteger nuestra energía, y asegurarnos estar bien mentalmente. Está bien darnos tiempo para desconectarnos, fue tan sano para mí. Recuerden siempre que no podemos darle a los demás lo mejor de nosotros mismos, sin antes estar bien nosotros.
