We All Have 24 Hours…

Life feels like it is constantly moving at 1,000mph. There are a million things going on at the same time, and it’s hard to keep up. We want to excel at work, have a social life, be a good friend, be there for our family, keep up with society, maintain our spiritual side, all while staying fit and looking good. It can be so overwhelming!

We want to do it all, but how on Earth do we manage to do so?

Honestly, I think it is just a matter of understanding what our priorities are. If we prioritize, we will be able to better manage our time to ultimately achieve our goals.

Think about what your goals are at the moment. They can be anything from wanting to have a better relationship with your family and/or God, getting good grades, finding a new job, living a healthy lifestyle, etc. We can accomplish any of these if we learn to make them a priority. Of course, this is not easy; it will take time, hard work, and sacrifice, which in the end are the ultimate test of how badly we want to accomplish our goals.

I remember when I first started my blog I thought I could be able to keep up with it without sacrificing anything. I actually began to write my first blog in November 2017, and did not finish it until January of 2018. I was working full time, going out with friends and family, attending events and only worked on my blog if I “had time.” Truth is, we are never going to “have time,” we need to MAKE time. We need to focus on what our priorities are and make time for them, even if that means sacrificing other things. The first couple of weeks of launching my blog meant less hours of sleep, less time with friends and family, less going out so that I could focus on having a new post every week. Now that I am starting to get the hang of posting on my blog, I am able to slowly do more of those things again, but it took sacrifice in the beginning and prioritizing my goal to make the best use of my time.

Remember that we all get the same 24 hours in one day, from Oprah Winfrey, Beyoncé, and Diddy, to you and me. The question is not about how much time you have, but rather, how effectively are you going to manage that time to accomplish your goals?

La vida se siente como que siempre se está moviendo a 1,000 millas por hora. Hay tantas cosas que están sucediendo y la verdad es difícil estar en todo. Queremos sobresalir en el trabajo, tener una vida social, ser buenos amigos, estar ahí para nuestra familia, estar al tanto de la sociedad, mantener nuestro lado espiritual, todo mientras estamos sanos y nos vemos bien. ¡Puede ser tan estresante!

La verdad pienso que es cuestión de entender cuáles son nuestras prioridades. Teniendo claro cuáles son nuestras prioridades, podremos manejar nuestro tiempo mejor para obtener nuestras metas. Piensa en cuáles son tus metas ahora mismo. Puede ser cualquier cosa desde tener una mejor relación con tu familia y/o Dios, obtener buenas calificaciones, encontrar un nuevo trabajo, mantenernos saludable, etc. Podemos lograr cualquiera de estas cosas si aprendemos a hacerlas una prioridad. Claro que esto no es fácil; requerirá tiempo, mucho trabajo, y sacrificio, que al final serán la mayor prueba de que tanto queremos lograr nuestras metas.

Me acuerdo cuando escribí mi primer blog, pensé que iba poder hacer todo sin sacrificar nada. De hecho, empecé a escribir mi primer blog en noviembre del 2017 y no lo terminé hasta enero 2018. Estaba trabajando tiempo completo, saliendo con mis amistades y mi familia, asistiendo eventos, y solo trabaja en mi blog cuando “tenía tiempo.” La verdad nunca vamos a “tener tiempo,” debemos “hacer tiempo.” Debemos enfocarnos en nuestras prioridades y hacer tiempo para ellas, aunque signifique sacrificar otras cosas. Las primeras semanas que estrené mi blog fueron menos horas de dormir, menos tiempo con mis amistades y familia, menos salidas, para enfocarme en tener un nuevo blog cada semana. Ahora que estoy entendiendo más sobre mi blog, poco a poquito puedo ir incorporando de nuevo esas cosas. Pero tomó sacrificio y el entender bien mis metas para para hacer el mejor uso de mi tiempo.

Recuerda que todos tenemos las mismas 24 horas en un día, desde Oprah Winfrey, Beyoncé y Diddy, hasta tu y yo. La pregunta no es cuánto tiempo tienes, ¿si no que tan efectivamente usaras ese tiempo para cumplir tus metas?
